A Baker education is inquiry and project-based so the role of the teacher is that of facilitator and fellow learner encouraging children to develop agency by creating, asking questions, exploring and asking questions. This approach focuses on children’s social and emotional needs as well as academic needs.
In order to give you a glimpse into the work of our teachers and students together, please enjoy the work, images, videos and audios found in the Student Portfolio. It highlights how deliberate our teachers are in their work. You will see provocations in early childhood where teachers provide materials and general direction but children unfold their own ideas. You will see inquiry questions and projects provided to our primary, intermediate and middle school children. But, most of all, you will experience the joy of the Baker education, where children love to learn.
