The preschool teacher set up Orff xylophones in the classroom for students to play with and learn about the sounds they make. As the children explored these instruments, they noticed the letters that named the chords. This experiential music lesson led to an impromptu jam session. The lesson supplemented students’ regular music classes, where they learn about musical styles from around the world.
