5th Grade Energy Design Challenge

Assignment
Students used their imaginations and science knowledge to develop an invention to make the world a better place. Students were asked to imagine its the year 2220, and all the energy people use needs to be renewable for the health of our Earth. Students were tasked with creating a 3-D model or a 2-D blueprint of an invention that would be powered by renewable energy to help people in daily life. The invention could be a reimagining of an idea that already exists or a brand new idea. Students worked in partners or individually on these projects.

This project empowered students to apply the knowledge they had gained about energy transfer during our unit to an invention that could benefit the planet.
