Baker Demonstration School is a PreK–8 independent school in Wilmette, welcoming families from across the Chicago area. Join us on Saturday morning, December 13, to explore our campus, meet our educators, and experience the hands-on learning that defines a Baker education.

As a leader in progressive education, Baker cultivates creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Our Open House is a chance to see our student-centered approach in action—and to imagine what learning could look like for your child at Baker.

The Open House is open to the whole family, and children are encouraged to participate in the activities throughout the morning. We look forward to welcoming you!

9:00–9:20 AM — Welcome Coffee & Refreshments

9:20–10:00 AM — Opening Program

Hear Interim Head of School Chris Cheney share Baker’s approach to progressive education, followed by a panel of Baker students.

10:00–11:00 AM — Guided Campus Tours

Explore our classrooms, labs, arts studios, swimming pool, and outdoor campus.

11:00 AM–12:00 PM — Discovery Sessions

Book Fair Exploration in our 24,000-volume library
Meet with teachers, specialists, student services staff, and parents

After the Open House (Optional)

12:00–2:00 PM — Baker Business School Market

Stay after the admissions event to support our 4th and 5th graders as they launch their student-created businesses as part of our integrated entrepreneurial unit. Prices range from $0.50–$15.00 (cash only). Proceeds go to the nonprofit of the student’s choice.
