Baker Medalists Abound in National Latin Exam
Baker’s well-established strength in Latin was on display again as Middle School students and recent alumni shined in the annual National Latin Exam, earning a host of medals.
The 40-question exam, taken by level, is taken annually by more than 150,000 Latin students worldwide.
Students in grades 6-8 and alumni earned Summa Cum Laude (gold medal), Maxima Cum Laude (silver medals), Magna Cum Laude, and Cum Laude recognition at various levels. Results are as follows:
Summa Cum Laude (Gold Medal): Zachary Vanderslice, Ben Levine, Owen Hanson, Anika Kaushikkar, Lisa Grimsted, Tian Valenzuela, Ezra Steinberg

Maxima Cum Laude (Silver Medal): Madeleine Ross, Erin Buchanan

Eight Baker alumni now studying at Evanston Township High School were among their school’s top finishers in the exam, including five of ETHS’s seven honorees in Latin IV.
