Faculty and Administration

The faculty at Baker Demonstration School is nearly 70-men-and-women strong, with 40 master teachers, who have advanced degrees and training, and 25 associate teachers and interns.

Financial Aid

Each year, Baker Demonstration School awards more than $550,000 in need-based scholarships. Approximately 20 percent of students who attend the school currently receive some level of financial aid.

Campus & Facilities

Baker Demonstration School is situated on a nearly four-acre campus at Sheridan Road and Maple Avenue in Wilmette, just south of Gillson Park. Baker’s recently renovated building houses large, bright classrooms; a university- caliber library; a gymnasium; a swimming pool; an art studio; a music and drama suite; a 175-seat auditorium; two technology labs; and a cafeteria. The school’s location also allows students and faculty to utilize the lakefront, local parks, and Wilmette’s natural ravine.

Accreditation

Baker Demonstration School is a member of the Lake Michigan Association of Independent Schools (LMAIS). As of July 2006, the school is a provisional member of the Independent Schools Association of Central States (ISACS) and full accreditation is pending. Additionally, the Toddler Program is DCFS certified.
